28 Mar 2008 - The Daffodil Restaurant

As part of a Literacy project on writing instructions the junior class designed a main meal and a dessert using staple foods from various countries as their inspiration. Their designs were then cooked by the children and judged by the school cook on taste, nutrition and presentation. The African dish - Yak-a-Yam - came out top. Finally the children then designed their menu cards on the computers and once printed these were laminated.

After all this hard work the children then asked if they could have a restaurant for people from the village. As part of the Hope 08 work they had been doing in RE lessons, the children thought it would be a great idea to prepare a meal, free of charge for the older members of the community who always support the school.

Hope 08 is an initiative by the Christain churches. The children sent out invitations, decorated the village hall, cooked the meals and even learnt the art of waitressing to make this formal dinner special for their guests. All enjoyed their meals and the entertainment put on by the children, including Mrs Bond, a previous headteacher and Johnny Kingdom an ex-pupil of the school!!!
